The Firefly is a lightly weighted attractor nymph designed to fish naturally in the upper water column where emerging insects are most vulnerable. Rather than plunging to the bottom, its lightweight bead allows the fly to drift just beneath the surface or through mid-depth currents, making it deadly during hatches when trout are feeding on ascending nymphs and emergers.

The buggy dubbed body creates a lifelike silhouette, while the bright chartreuse hotspot adds a subtle trigger that fish can key in on from a distance. Soft, wispy fibers breathe with every current, giving the fly constant movement that imitates an insect struggling toward the surface. A slim wing case completes the natural profile without sacrificing realism.

Fish it as the top fly in a Euro-nymphing rig, beneath a small indicator, or as a dropper behind a dry fly when trout are feeding just below the film. The Firefly excels when fish refuse heavier patterns and are targeting insects in transition. Tied on a size 14 dry.
