The Hare’s Ear Nymph (often called the Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear) is a versatile, buggy pattern that imitates a wide range of aquatic insects, including mayfly nymphs and caddis larvae. Its natural materials and subtle movement make it a go-to choice for trout in all seasons and water conditions.

This fly is tied with a tungsten bead and gold wire.

How to Fish It:

  • Dead drift (most important)
  • Add a slight lift at the end of drift (imitates emerging insect)
  • Use as:
    • Lead fly in a nymph rig
    • Dropper under a dry
    • Euro nymph anchor fly
